Edwin Peng.

20 years in. Expert 3 Krav Maga instructor with deep real-world teaching experience.

Edwin's journey began in 2005, in the military. He turned up for an outfield session most people skipped, and his officer rewarded the few who showed up with an "incentive course". He had never heard of Krav Maga. That one unexpected decision shaped the next two decades of his life.

Since then he has taught self-defence to children, adults, corporate teams, law enforcement, and military units across Singapore, while continuing to train in boxing, Muay Thai, and other systems to sharpen the way he teaches Krav.

What makes Krav Maga different from combat sports?

In combat sports the goal is to win: get your hand raised, take home a belt. In Krav Maga, victory means surviving. It's about defending against sudden attacks, creating distance, escaping, and protecting your loved ones. It isn't built for the ring. It's built for life.

People think Krav Maga is violent. Is it?

That's the wrong lens. Krav is like a knife: in the kitchen it's a tool, in the wrong hands it's a weapon. It's not the knife, it's the intent. Krav taught me control, awareness, and accountability. Even if you can hurt someone, the real question is whether you should.

What's kept you in the system for 20 years?

It's the one thing in my life that felt truly natural to me. I love the simplicity and efficiency of it; it uses human instincts and natural responses. I never stayed stagnant though. Every time I train something new, I find a way to bring it back and make my Krav better.

What would you say to someone thinking of starting?

Stop overthinking and come for a trial. What's the worst that could happen? You don't need to be fit or experienced. Most people who train with us are down-to-earth and supportive. Just come open-minded, and we'll guide you through the rest.

Head of Women's Division

Minnie Teo.

Police. Special operations. Krav Maga. Now teaching women to fight back.

Minnie spent over a decade in the Singapore Police Force, serving as a Defence Tactics Instructor with the Special Operations Command. She found Krav Maga while looking for a system that was practical and straightforward for real-life scenarios, and was struck by how direct it was next to the multi-step techniques taught in the academy.

In 2022, in her eleventh year with the force, she resigned to pursue Krav Maga full-time and complete the demanding General Instructor Course under Edwin. Today she leads the women-only program, bringing a rare blend of frontline experience and instructional rigour.

What drew you to Krav Maga?

I was searching for a new system to learn, and Krav stood out because it was practical and straightforward for real-life scenarios and common attacks. I still remember my first class: choke defence from the front. It was as straightforward as it claimed to be.

How did your police background shape that?

As I trained more, I noticed the same problems we addressed in the police academy often involved too many steps, or simply weren't practical enough. Why go through the hassle when there's a simpler approach? That made me determined to pursue Krav, hoping one day to introduce it to the force.

Why leave a stable career in the force?

Part of it was feeling stagnant, like I wasn't growing. When Edwin announced the General Instructor Course in 2022, I knew if I missed it there might never be another run in Singapore. Becoming an instructor in something I knew I was good at felt like a natural progression.

What was the instructor course like?

It was hell, no cap. We sweated, we bled, some of us cried, and most of us got injured one way or another. But it was also one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had.

Train with them.

The best way to understand the difference good coaching makes is to feel it. Book a trial and train a real class.
